About Us
In 1981, owner Greg Smith began to trade in precious metals, selling to retail stores around Michigan. He soon opened his first retail business, selling primarily 14kt gold rings, chains, and charms. Having majored in business in college, Greg focused on selling precious metal jewelry and made the decision to increase his knowledge in the field of Gemology. In 1993 Greg attended the Gemological Institute of America (G.I.A.) and became a Graduate Gemologist. With the knowledge of identifying gem stones and the grading of Diamonds, Gregory expanded his business by opening his second location in Rochester Hills. He travelled to Columbia, where he purchased rare gem stones and soon began to purchase gems from Africa and diamonds from Anthrop. Greg began designing jewelry to include these precious diamonds and gems and also specializes in custom engagement rings. Unique designs are found throughout the store, moved in 2009 to downtown Rochester, Michigan. Greg is very involved in the community he lives and works in, and has been involved in the local Rotary Club the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.
